I just wanted to apologize for the lack of posts, I’ve been working a lot, but have by no means run out of photos of my work to post!
I’ll update at the next available chance. :)
This is a Plique-a-Jour scarab made using copper wire, 10g copper sheet and Thompson Transparent Enamels.
The Plique-a-jour process is described in my previous post about three sterling silver pendants.
aw thank you Nicole!
I’m quite fond of them as well, they remind me of the mineral drips I saw in Howe Cavern in New York.
This is a fold form diamond shaped sterling silver pendant with a sterling tube bail, the snake chain is a permanent part of this piece. I had to saw off the clasp and solder it back on after threading it through the bail.
Fold form is a process of scoring/ grinding a straight line into the metal and bending it like origami, then running solder down the folded score mark to prevent your metal from bending more and breaking through the thinner metal.
In this pendant I made three seperate diamond fold forms out of sterling silver sheet metal, soldered them together along one side and then soldered on the silver tubing which was bent at a slight curve. Then I balled silver wires and soldered those along the top of the fold forms. I feel that the balled wire soften up the hard lines of this pendant. After that the chain was threaded through, and using a flexshaft fine lines were added to the diamond fold forms surface.
After a good hour in a tumbler this is the final product.
Here are 3 Silver Broom Cast Pendants with sterling silver tube bails and prong set faceted stones.
The first is a faceted citrine. My birthstone and my personal pendant.
The second is a faceted garnet. This belongs to my sister, I gave it to her as a graduation present.
And the third one (with two photos) is a faceted Mystic Topaz. The stone is beautiful and these photographs do it no real justice. This pendant will soon be shipped to Alaska to a family friend as a wedding present. :)
